My complaints about the last season and the finale aren't so much about the outcomes but the execution. That being said, let me indulge myself.

Not sure they could have made it work, but man would I have loved Jon's exile to have been to Bear Island. With the Mormont line eradicated and Jon holding their house's sword with the blessing of the father and son it seems natural. Lady Mormont, bless her giant killing heart, approved of him as well.

Take Tormand, Ghost and a host of wildlings to Bear Island and set up shop.

Wouldn't that have been great?

Yes it would have. That dragon-pit scene SHOULD have been about the lords holding Grey Worm (not Tyrion) to account as a perpetrator of war crimes. They could have installed Jon anywhere (even on the Iron Throne), but Bear Island has a nice symbolism to it.

And a lean, silent figure slowly fades into the gathering darkness, aware at last that in this world, with great power there must also come -- great responsibility!
