He got first dibs on the more juciy lands (albeit book source).

Each realm is equivalent to a country, with each lord being equivalent to a county (I appreciate this is British terminology).

With the Mormonts equivalent to a small island, like Isle of Scilly or something, then this is a small group.

Assuming that Davos has even an average sized county, then he should have approx 80,000 in his region (approx equivalent around domesday region in a county, taking Devon as an average).

It's fair to say, he would have at least an approximate personal guard + militia of at least 500 men to call on, equivalent to a regiment.

Given he's a smuggler, he should have the ability to sort out the logistics of getting them to Jon.

Guy, how many times must I own your half-assed arguments? Accept da truf, damn ye \(pirate\) !!!

Davos is not some leader of an ancient House with lands and men under his command. In fact, I don't recall anyone referring to him as anything other than a knight in the show (Tyrion introduced him as "Ser" to Daenerys just last season), as Stannis died before actually becoming King and officially making him a noble or whatever he had in mind for him.

Even in the books, you're seemingly wrong. To my understanding, Davos has a small keep and surrounding lands. He and his kin have at least two ships under their command, which they lose in Blackwater. His promotion from a landed knight happens afterwards, so it's not like Davos had consolidated power of his own to begin with. What I'm saying is that, even in the books, without Stannis to enforce it, it's highly doubtful the other Houses of the area will accept Davos' claim and yield lands and men to him...

However, as I said, I am willing to assume that he did have a small guard (akin to the men Ned had with him in King's Landing), but most of them surely perished along with his son in Blackwater.
