Is there any chance Rey (spelling?) is Luke's daugher? Why would Leia and she have embraced so the first time Leia laid eyes on her? Could this be something Rey and Leia both only began to realize as Rey's connection to the force surfaced?

Was anyone else thrown by the claim by Han and Leia's son that he could feel Rey viewed Han as the father she never had, when she'd really only just met Han? Did something happen with the editing of this movie, and was far more time supposed to have passed than it seems when watching the film?

What was with the the new 'death ray planet' hitting several populated worlds all at once, worlds very close (apparently) to where Leia and C3PO were? How could that many worlds have all been in the same system, and been so near to each other?

Finally, is "light speed" somehow supposed to mean FTL? Or is it to be understood that they hit "light speed" as part of the process of going to FTL, and it's just never been spelled out that clearly? (It sure looked like FTL for sure this time, and we know in the earlier films there HAD to be FTL involved, considering the distances traveled.)

Answers:

1. Yes. They left it intentionally vague enough so that they could reveal it any way they wanted to later. However, the implication is she is related to someone we know since they did not reveal her last name.
Also, it is implied by her vision while touching the lightsabe and when Kylo tries to mind rape her (she's seen the island Luke is on), that she was one of Luke's Jedi apprentices that Kylo Ren did not kill.

She hugged Leia more because she was our POV character and the story needed to focus on her emotional journey.

2. The pacing of the movie didn't allow for longer more involved scenes where the characters bonded. It was mildly implied when they worked on the Falcon together and Han offered her a job etc.

3. The planets were in the Hosnian system. Both Takodana and whatever planet the Resistance was on, would technically had to have bene VERY close to the Hosnian system for them to have seen it in real time.

4. Correct. "Lightspeed" in the Star Wars universe cannot possible mean what it does here, because the space travel in Star Wars is free of relativistic implications. It must be FTL.
