Pushing back while someone is trying to read your mind is different than telling someone out loud to do something, and using very specific wording that jedi used. How did she know to say it out loud, instead of reaching out with her mind? And the wording to use?

I just think they could have thrown in some lines about her hearing stories as a child about the jedi's powers so she would know what to try. Unless they are implying that the force guided her to know exactly how to do all of this, which would work for me if she if Luke's daughter. Either way, the storytelling could have been slightly improved to eliminate these gaps.

Don't get me wrong; I would not have objected to a better explanation. I can see what you're saying.

But it still just didn't bother me. People often think out loud when they're concentrating. I can see it working regardless of whether or not she actually spoke. But in a movie (unlike in a book) speaking is better for the benefit of the audience.
