Quote: This is really close to how I would have redone the three movies as well. I think the biggest thing is that everything that turns Anakin to the dark side should be compressed into one movie, to really highlight the anguish that drove him over there. His mother's death, not losing Padme, any feelings of betrayal by the jedi, etc.And if that is all in the second movie, the third movie can have extended time at the end with Darth Vader in his armor going after jedi. That could have worked, I think. At least Darth Vader would still be looked upon as a colossal figure, which, frankly, after the second trilogy as we have it, he really isn't any longer, being more of a laughingstock. "No-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o!" (Or else, when not a laughingstock, he's the worm who slew a bunch of children, which is fearsome, yes, but in a slimy sort of way, not grandiose at all, merely despicable, not impressive, merely reprehensible, the sort of deed that makes you want to spit on him.) I would add only this: We get to see the taking of Luke and Leia by the good guys, and how they were placed in new homes, and even a little of them growing up. This would provide the hope that every Star Wars movie should have. | |||||||
