Quote: And Will likely see it once or maybe even twice more in the theater.

Quote: Were it up to me, yes I would have changed a few things, but overall I found it fantastic. And (TEHO, needless to say) but I find all the complaints about Rey being "too perfect" or "too powerful" etc. etc.  downright silly. And outright sexist. Even if people might not realize they are being sexist.
Quote:
Quote: No one complained when Luke destroyed the first Death Star and said there was no way a backwoods pilot could be that good.
Quote:
Quote: No one complained about Han being an ace pilot and an ace shot.
Quote:
Quote: And no one complained about Anakin (NINE-YEAR-OLD Anakin!) being the best pilot on an entire planet and, later in the movie, single-handedly stopping a droid army by blowing up the control ship.
Quote:
Quote: So yes, please, let's quit trying to say how terrible it is that Rey is powerful in the Force.
Quote: Wow. Once again agenda skews thought. Rey being too powerful isn't the criticism. It's that she is too perfect - as a character. And her being too perfect has nothing to do with her gender but her being a believable hero. Hero 101. Hamartia. A fatal flaw.
Quote: The cherry picked examples you used are parts of the sum. Put them all together and you have Rey. The individuals you sited don't even come close to what we saw. She is an ace pilot, gifted with the Force, morally unquestionable, loyal, compassionate and the rest of the kitchen sink.
Quote: Don't get me wrong I loved her. She was by far the shining light of the new cast, but the character is too bulletproof.
Quote: Hopefully, it's a set up and we learn more about her backstory and find some vulnerability but please, please, please stop leaping on the feminist agenda anytime a character who happens to have a vagina is criticized.
Quote: A female character in a starring role does not have to carry the torch for all womankind. She's just a character. Equally susceptible to just and unjust criticism as anyone else. Accept that and you'll take a bigger step towards your goals than the outrage you just expressed.
If we were just comparing this to new hope than Luke would be way too goody goody. Just saying. I do think he was generally more flawed in terms of internal conflict but that was played up more in the following two films.

:D Exactly. In the *following two films* we got a lot more depth and complexity to the character. I hope we'll be able to say the same about Rey.
