I'm still trying to slog through the first season. Everyone is just so...charmless. In the original, Next Gen, DS9, even Voyager and Enterprize, there were multiple characters I found charming and wanted to get know. Not this series. I just can not make myself give a damn whether any of them live or die. It makes watching episodes really slow.

I thought Lorca was fun. He's like one of the guest star captains from the original series or TNG who goes crazy...but we get to follow him for 15 episodes or so.

And the mirror universe empress and L'Rell were fun. And I like their take on Sarek...instead of being a pompous vulcan like T'Pol on Enterprise Sarek to me he seems like a guy who is more laid back than most Vulcans. He fell in love and married outside his race so to me unlike every other Vulcan we see...he knows love is illogical and can make you do silly things and he seems much more open to human foibles. (honestly he seems like a better father to Burnham than he does to Spock).

But yeah the people we're supposed to follow every week are kind of a drag. Saru gets better IMO as time goes on. Tilly, Burnham, Stamets and his husband are all pretty tedious though. I like Ash but I don't see what more they can do with the character going forward.

Remember...

When Spock asked Sarek (during "Journey to Babel") "Why did you marry her?" Sarek replied "At the time, it seemed the logical thing to do."

I do have a question for anyone who's watching season 2 and has seen season 1.

In the recent flashback scenes, Michael seemed much older than Spock. It also seemed Amanda was only meeting her for the first time.

Didn't we see a flashback last season that showed Sarek finding Michael just after the Klingons had murdered her parents, and she was MUCH younger than the recent flashback showed her? (And wasn't it said that Sarek and Amanda had known Michael and her family?)

Plus, if she's so much older than Spock, and he's a full grown man who's been in Starfleet for quite a while (consider him being the Science Officer and having a Lt. rank)...

...Just how old is Michael? Certainly not as young as she appears.
