Any time they say they evolved a show it sounds so condescending. Instead of creating something new they are doing a sequel to something that was more popular than something they can create from scratch. Yet they are decrying that very thing as being corny or dated and saying let's change it because change must be better. It kind of sickens me.

Having said that, it's not like Trek ever adhered to a "humans are perfect" rule. How many evil admirals or captains did Kirk run into? What about all the conflict between Kirk,Spock and McCoy?

It was more of a TNG, Voyager rule which is why they always seemed a bit stiff.
