It's a vague term. It doesn't necessarily mean that.

It could just mean they're rejecting the traditional look and feel of Star Trek, which is very clinical/sanitized.

I'll reserve judgement for now.

If they have pointless scenes like the one from Enterprise where they got half naked and rubbed space hand sanitizer on each other we'll know we're in trouble.
