I have to agree with JF here. At one point, not too long ago, Marvel did try to replace it's main white male heroes in the comics. Wolverine was replaced by X-23, a girl Hulk was replaced by Amadeus Cho, an Asian boy Cap was replaced by The Falcon, a black man Iron Man was replaced by Riri Williams, a black girl Thor was replaced by Jane Foster, a woman (with cancer) All of this at same time. The only book where they did it right was Spider-Man. Peter Parker got to keep his Spidey suit when Miles Morales got stuck in the 616 reality. I really don't care what color, gender or sexual orientation a movie or comic book character is, but they should keep their hands off the classics. You can't just change or replace a character that's been around for 60 or 80 years. I find this very disrespectful to the character and to the fans. So no, Clark Kent/ Kal-El was always a white male and he always should be. If they want to create another Superman of a different color or gender or whatever, fine. But that can't be Clark Kent, nor should he replace him. If Black Panther would become White Panther all hell would break loose. This reverse discrimination crap goes too far and has no place in fantasy universes like Marvel or DC IMO. | |||||||
