Saw it.

Was extremely skeptical going in.

LOVED IT! This movie treats Carol better than she has ever been treated in any comic books, ever. This is the empowerment character she should have been instead of the poster child for victimization. But it was empowerment without it being crammed down throats. The plot was great. Larson was wonderful.

But I have a stronger history with the character than any other MCU character. She was really the first Marvel character I had any sort of knowledge about, even before Kitty. So, there's a degree of bias, here.

My only complaint is that the 90s music didn't always fit. The worst, imo, was when Carol gears up for part of the final fight. She's being told by the Kree and Supreme Intelligence that she can't win because she's only human, and as Carol flexes her superpowers to prove them wrong they play...

No Doubt's "Just A Girl"

It turns what was otherwise a good action fight scene into cornball. It was sort of inappropriate, as well, because nowhere in the movie were they dissing her for being a woman. I'm a really big No Doubt/Stefani fan (and all of the 90s music choices), but no... just no. I would have preferred a song like White Zombie's "More Human Than Human" or Garbage's "Supervixen." \:\) Can't always get what you want though.

And Goose!

Must haz Flerken!
