Quote: I've never heard of Just Before Dawn, but it is on youtube, so it's now on my list. I'll try to give thoughts after I watch it.
Quote: Great slashers that I missed in the 80's but watched for the first time in the last 10 years or so were The Burning(1981) and The Prowler(1981).
I haven't seen either of those. My friend dragged me to see "My Bloody Valentine 3D" in the theater when it came out and I wasn't impressed; not by the movie, nor by the 3D. But then I saw the original "My Bloody Valentine" and liked it a great deal more.

My Bloody Valentine is a favorite of mine from the genre. I haven't watched it in a while but I have the VHS in the basement. I never saw the remake, but I generally don't care to see them.
What's great about these early 80's slashers is that so many of them are available on line. I watch lots of stuff on my breaks at work on my phone.
The Burning has one of the most intense killing scenes I've seen from these movies and it features Jason Alexander way before Seinfeld.
The Prowler has a killer in a WWII GI motif and Tom Savini effects. This one was a pleasant surprise for me.
