I mean it is hard to say for sure as we are not privy to all of the behind the scenes or contracts and agreements.
I tend to doubt it though. It seems like most folks are either shown the door when things go downhill or decide that they want to go out on a high note and told their stories.
I think about everybody would rather go out on the later, but more probably go out on the former.
I honestly do not believe much of what the guy says to be honest with you. He has not been too honest about other things as far as I can tell.

I wouldn't believe what he has to say either.
I am more likely to believe that the BBC told him to pack up and get out after three seasons after they saw what a debacle he had created.
Frankly I would have been glad if the Doc 13 era suddenly STOPPED mid season, and the BBC announced a 6 to 12 month break and then the series resumes with new cast and crew and we get Doc 14.
Doc 14 makes the occasional joke about 13 being regarded as an unlucky number and mentions how things ended for Doc 13.
Problem, solution!
