    When David and matt met, was that the Dr 4 has the caretaker at the end, and does that mean that each dr still exists "somewhere?"

Impossible to say who he was, but he wasn't the 4th Doctor.

He talks about 'revisiting' old faces, so he was probably a future incarnation who'd just taken the face and form of his 4th incarnation again.

As he was in the 50th Anniversary show, I like to think of him as the 50th Doctor.

Yeah, I am honestly of the mind that it was more a nod than anything else. There are probably logical reasons to roll it in to cannon but it was more a bit of fun than anything.
