I think everyone's expecting RTD's next crack at the show will be more of what he gave us over a decade ago.

True, but at least he has a track record of producing an enjoyable product. That is more than can be said for the most recent show runner.

It is not a promise that it will result in repeated success by any means though.

One of the issues with the episodic continuation by other hands is you have to deal with what the other people before you did. At least to some degree.

It felt like Moffat did his own thing, acknowledged the RTD era here and there but mostly was his own direction and feel to the show with decent results that were mixed over time.

The new guy has had consistently bad results.

And of course with the historical results such things have always had mixed results from one team to another, but such is the way.

I am hopeful at least that it will become more consistently enjoyable again if nothing else. I have not fully enjoyed the show for a bit now.

I can only speak for myself but in the past I really looked forward to each episode and now it is "Oh, that is still going I guess, we should watch that again". Hardly a ringing endorsement. My wife is much the same.
