Whether you believe he was just having harmless 'fun' or not is up to you to individually decide, the point here with 'Immersive' abandoning his appearances in Time Fracture is that it sets a bar, it is them setting a moral precedent.
Doctor Who is a family show, factions in the BBC see it as nominally for children in particular, and so Barrowman and Clarke have put the BBC in a very awkward position, because while this might have otherwise died down and gone away quickly this move from 'Immersive' keeps it all in the public arena and the negative equity keeps building in regards to Barrowman's Doctor Who connection. The BBC unfortunately have a good deal of longstanding negative press concerning their handling of such fiasco's as the Jimmy Saville scandal, and their children's presenters caught snorting coke and the like. And so they are extremely sensitive to any repeat of those mistakes and the accusations of turning blind eyes to both these people and these situations... so yes, John Barrowman has definitely moved into the forefront and his head is very much on the block where the BBC is concerned. They simply cannot afford to weather this situation for very much longer as it is becoming clear that this isn't going away - it is slowly getting worse.
maybe just best to then wait until 2022, and do full on reboot, just go new Dr and crew, and act like nothing happened?
