No, that wouldn't have worked either.

I don't subscribe to this idea that characters are 'infinitely flexible'.

There are good reasons why certain characters become popular. You can stretch them to a certain extent, but there are boundaries you should never cross.

I would have enjoyed seeing the adventures of the new Dr as a teenager, as someone whose thousands of years old, and yet everyone else sees as been a teen!
