How many times has the franchise retconned or ignored things it previously did? Continuity has always been fluid in Doctor Who

Ancient One said it best below, the idea that continuity and 'canon' have always been very fluid or simply non-existent in the series is a myth, a modern marketing bit of 'fake news' and spin designed to distract attention away from the sheer damage and impact of Chris Chibnall's two season reign on the series.

Cast your mind back on the series' history and tell me when there has been a revision, a retcon, as massive and complete as this?
The Timelords arrival in the War Games (1969)? A huge event, but we had already learned the Doctor was not human, and we had already seen the Meddling Monk and his Tardis, so the Timelords were not an altogether Out-of-the-blue concept, they just added to what was already established.
The Cartmel Masterplan (1988-onwards)? A myth. Cartmel himself has refuted it so many times that you have to wonder whether the Virgin novels were far more influential than anyone suspected. There never was a Masterplan from Andrew Cartmel, just an urge to try to make the Doctor a little more vague and mysterious after years of being over-exposed and dressed in glitter...
The Half-Human assertion (1996)? This goes hand in hand with the Cartmel Masterplan and the faces in the Brain of Morbius. They are hints, suggestions, dropped and never referred to again after that story has concluded. So you can take them it or leave it. The difference with The Timeless Child retcon is that it is in NO way ambiguous, and is the end result of a full seasons worth of building up to... this is as deep and determined a retcon as Chris Chibnall could manage to create as a writer and Producer, as he made sure that there was no way to circumvent or ignore it, and I do think he had banked it all on the assumption that it would deliver massive attention and ratings. Therefore cementing it as a new canon, and with the audience support to carry it through...

Which.... didn't quite happen. \(euh\)
