What I've said is: We don't know what goes on behind closed doors. It's possible that promises were made to Young over improving the quality on the platform soon, and were never kept. It's possible that Young took them at their word and didn't check, or was giving them more time to make good.
Your point was that he may not have had an ulterior motive because he may have felt comforted by hypothetical promises made (that ultimately weren’t kept). This is like reasoning that a pissed off man sold a lemon would be comforted by promises made that his car will be fixed, and so he never bothered checking. The same kind of man with a history of HATING cheap quality and keeping a close eye. LOL!
