AOC is a Justice Democrat, meaning that she does not accept corporate donations (aka legalized bribes). Pelosi, who is backed by corporations, is unable to control or influence her through traditional means. The goal of the Justice Democrats is to get money out of politics to create a better democracy.

Second, AOC is far more influential than Pelosi, and wields a kind of power far beyond Pelosi's reach. AOC can steer the conversation easily, and channel public sentiment, and Pelosi cannot. At least three leading presidential candidates are courting her endorsement. (The other being Biden, who told a room full of billionaires that nothing will change for them if he's elected.)

AOC represents a wing that is hungry for change and Pelosi is desperate to maintain the status quo.

I sort of agree, but not sure if it is fear per se.

Honestly, AOC probably gets more play from the right than she does from the left. Seems my conservative friends are always posting about her knocking something or other about her.

She, and some of the newer members, are sort of like Tea Party members of the GOP as far as I can tell. There is not really a firm movement behind them but it is similar sort of zeal with some issues that seem to be overblown.

Other than climate issues, in my mind that is the biggest issue facing humanity as a whole and therefore every country and person.

Sadly, only one real race in town in terms of politics if you want the problem even acknowledged at all.
