Except he's not been objectively terrible.
Quote:If Trump was an objectively terrible president, wouldn't most of the news stories about him be negative?
Yes, he is.
Quote:He's doing a great job. The Economy is booming. Jobs prospects are great. He's dialed back America's overseas military endeavours. He's attempting to sort out the border issue (despite the Democrats). He's tough on trade with China.
His being tough on trade with China helped stall the stock market for virtually all of 2018. Trump passed a tax cut that yes, helped fuel growth, but in a time when growth was already steady and so wasn't needed because the cut generated $2 trillion in deficit spending, making a mockery of Republican concern for the national debt. Ludicrously during the campaign, Trump stated he could completely wipe out the entire national debt but he's doing the opposite.
Quote:Exactly what are you objectively against?
Trump shut down the government for over a month and cost the government $5 billion in the process while trying to get money for a border wall that he failed get. He had to reverse course when his already low poll numbers dropped even further.
Trump has ignored Russian interference in the 2016 election, something attested to by all 17 intelligence agencies, and Trump even put Putin's word over that of these agencies while praising Putin (a despot who has murdered political opposition). Think about that. He has no trouble with a foreign government intervening in U.S. elections because they helped him win.
Trump has eroded standards of propriety and decency expected from a national leader by behaving with narcissism, pettiness, demagoguery, and racism (like Trump promoting faked anti-Muslim videos from far right racist ultranationalist hate group Britain First).
Trump lies incessantly. The Washington Post has catalogued over 10,000 false or misleading statements from Trump. Some fragrant lies include Trump making false claims that Mexico will pay for his wall, that no one on his campaign staff had contact with Russians, that 3-5 millions illegals voted in the 2016 election, that the Obama administration wiretapped him, that he had bigger inauguration crowds than Obama, that it wasn't him on the Access Hollywood tape AFTER Trump already apologized for it!
Despite campaigning on hiring "the best people" and "draining the swamp," Trump poorly chose advisors and cabinet members resulting in controversy and a record number of resignations and firings with Trump often vigorously insulting his own hires. Here is a ridiculously long list of these controversial people: Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn, Sean Spicer, Anthony Scaramucci, Steve Bannon, Tom Price, Steve Mnuchin, Rob Porter, Jared Kushner, Reince Priebus, Omarosa Manigault, Ryan Zinke, David Shulkin, Scott Pruitt, Sebastian Gorka, Mike Dubke, Jeff Sessions, Rick Perry, and David Friedman. Trump's own attorney of 12 years, Michael Cohen accused Trump of committing a campaign finance felony. Members of his own administration have stated they try to rein Trump in by hiding paperwork or reports from him.
Under Trump, the world's approval of U.S. leadership has dropped to a new low.
Trump has nominated numerous judges with literally no experience to the courts, just ideologues.
Under Jeff Sessions' orders, the Trump administration separated thousands of children from their immigrant parents, Trump then falsely blamed the Democrats and said he couldn't do anything about it, but when the backlash got too bad, Trump quickly signed an executive order that countered Trump and Session's original policy.
