What am I missing here? Over the past six years we have listened to birthed after birther tell us that President Obama is ineligible to be president because he was born in Kenya, (despite evidence to the contrary) so please help a dumb ole country boy like myself, HOW is Ted Cruz elligible to run and he was born in Canada? I'm missing something here.

Yeah I see your point.

Ted Cruz is a US citizen through his mother (his father was from Cuba) and he was born in Canada.

I never got why the country Obama was born in mattered. His mother was American ipso facto he should be too right.

Most scholars and lawyers seem to agree, that so long as one parent is a citizen, then kids born abroad are covered. We will never have a definitive legal answer until the Supreme Court rules on it, or until an Amendment is passed that clarifies the definition.

As to Obama, he wasn't the only Presidential hopeful to have his status questioned. John McCain also faced scrutiny for being born in Panama.

Not sure if Turian heaven is the same as yours, but if this thing goes sideways and we both end up there, meet me at the bar."
