So Sarek was in the episode of course this was good, and we learn at the end that Sarek was forced by basically stodgy Vulcan conservatives / Racists, that he would have to make a choice as to who would go into the Vulcan service, Michael, or Spock. Sarek of course, chose Spock. Gives a bit of substance as to why Sarek and Spock had their issues with one another, and why Sarek was always so cheesed that Spock chose Star Fleet over the Vulcan Science Academy.

Captain Lorca is so far much more interesting than I initially gave him credit. It looks very much like he may have PTSD and he's captain of some Federation secret weapon. Scary in a lot of ways. There's a history between Lorca and Admiral Whats-her-face.

Nice little nod to the Enterprise in the episode.

So in addition to being an:
* Expert Vulcan Martial Artist
* Quantum Mechanic
* Biologist
* Computer programmer

We can now add, mind melds to Mary I mean, Michael Burnham's ever growing list of talents.

but otherwise a decent episode. Predictable ending though.
