I was thinking the other day about two bands whose music clearly was heavily influenced by the Doors:

Bauhaus

Are there any other bands whose music reminds you of the Doors? Whose music do you like better - the Original Gangster's or the new young turk's?

I disagree. I love just about everything The Doors have ever made and I'm also a huge Bauhaus fan. These bands have two completely different styles of music IMO.

Yes, Danzig's voice does sound a lot like Jim Morrison's (especially in this song) but again, another style of music. The same goes for Nick Cave.
Their way of singing however, definitely is heavely influenced by Jim Morrison. Probably the reason why I don't like either of them. It's not original, they're copycats trying to make his thing their thing.
The sound of the Doors is very unique. You only have to hear the first few notes of a song to know it's them, even if it's a song you don't know.

That doesn't mean I don't like a good cover though, I look at covers as tributes. People Are Strange by Echo & the Bunnymen, for instance, is just awesome.

I cannot think of a single band that reminds me of the Doors. Certainly their influence spreads through many but not the sound. On the other hand I see many artists that remind me of Jimi Hendrix. Janis Joplin is one I do not see any resemblance to anyone. Anyway The Doors seemed much like a band that pulled together all the influences of those before them into a style all their own. Maybe the culture of the time had some to do with why I do not see much in the way of sound or style afterward. Of course this is based on the bands I have actually spent time listening too on a regular basis. So there could be plenty of examples that I just do know about.

The Stooges...maybe?

I was reminded of the Doors, sort of, but not exactly. What I was really reminded of was Jim Morrison's singing. Respondents have rightly reacted to what I actually said - "remind you of the Doors" - and so they focused not only on Jim Morrison's singing but on the entire composition, all of the instruments, the style of music - and of course, when you focus on all of that, you don't hear the similarity that I was aiming at.

Danzig's singing is so similar to Jim Morrison's that I actually - whimsically - checked to see when he was born, and compared it to when Morrison died, to see if maybe Danzig might be Morrison reincarnated! (The answer is no, by the way. Danzig was born in 1955.)

But certainly if you listen to the entire composition of Danzig's songs, all of the instruments, the style of music, you wouldn't be fooled into thinking it was the Doors.
