When an art exhibit in Smallville is robbed and vandalized, Clark (Tom Welling) and Chloe (Allison Mack) investigate. But when they're led to meteor freak artist Roy G. Bivolo (guest star Willie Garson), his abilities leave Clark seeing red and Chloe green with envy. It's soon up to Lois (Erica Durance) and Martha (Annette O'Toole) to find a way to reverse the effects before Bivolo raids an exhibit in Metropolis being held by Lex (Michael Rosenbaum). Meanwhile, Lana (Kristin Kreuk) and Lionel (John Glover) have a confrontation over her relationship with Lex.

In an attempt to get Clark (Tom Welling) out of his way, Professor Milton Fine (James Marsters) hires some help from outer space in the form of intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo (guest star Andrew Bryniarski). But when Lobo takes Martha (Annette O'Toole), Lois (Erica Durance) and Chloe (Allison Mack) hostage and overpowers Clark, he is forced to retreat. When a student at Smallville High is found dead of unknown circumstances, Clark (Tom Welling) and Chloe (Allison Mack) return to their old high school to investigate. Initially, the two suspect the brash new coach, Guy Gardner (guest star Ben Browder), who also happens to be an old teammate of Clark's. A rivlary resurfaces between Clark and Gardner, but it's soon discovered that the identity of the murderer may be another escaped phantom: a parasite that leaves a star-shaped mark on it's victims. After a fight with the creature, a near-dead Gardner recieves a visit from a being known as The Guardian, and gets an offer that will change his life forever.

But after a violent and public confrontation with Lex (Michael Rosenbaum), Clark must step in, only to discover Lex has the parasite in one of his labs. Clark and Gardner must work together to get rid of the alien threat before it can strike again.

And in order to save Lana from being the next victim, Clark must work with an unlikely group of carnie allies; The sword throwing Nightmaster and his daughter/assistant Nightshade (guest stars Chris Bruno and Shiri Appleby), the fortune-telling Enchantress (guest star Erica Cerra), and their leader, a talking chimpanzee (special guest voice Bruce Campbell).

While covering a protest of LexCorp, Lois (Erica Durance) Chloe (Allison Mack)and Jimmy (Aaron Ashmore) meet environmental activist Miguel de la Terre (guest star Cheech Marin), who believes the constant use of meteor rocks in experiments is dangerous to the planet's ecosystem. But after a failed blackmail attempt by Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) to shut de la Terre down, the activist resorts to extremism and tries to shoot Lex with a bullet made from meteor rocks. Clark (Tom Welling) saves Lex, but is grazed by a blue Kryptonite bullet. Now, temporarily stripped of his powers, Clark is forced into a high-noon showdown with everyone's lives at stake.
